Statement by Foreign Minister Masahiko Koumura on the G7 Leader's Statement

October 30, 1998

  1. The current problems of the world economy are extremely important for Japan's diplomacy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been dealing with them through close cooperation within the government.

  2. It is most timely that a G7 leaders' statement and a declaration of the G7 finance ministers and central bank governors were issued today.
I sincerely hope that the statement and declaration will contribute to an improvement of the world economic situation.

  3. As the diplomatic authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall continue to perform its role fully on this issue.
