On the Passing of The Honorable Daniel K. Inouye, United States Senator

On the evening of December 17, Eastern Standard Time (December 18 around 7 a.m. Japan Standard Time) United States Senator Daniel K. Inouye(Democrat, Hawaii) passed away at the age of 88.
Upon hearing the news, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda sent a message to Senator Inouye’s wife, Mrs. Irene Hirano Inouye, expressing his condolences and gratitude for Senator Inouye’s efforts toward the development of Japan-U.S. relations.
