Electronic Commerce

In the corresponding part to the paragraph 3 (2) of the report, the US and Japan Joint Statement states "The United States and Japan will work toward a Comprehensive work program in the WTO on the trade - related aspects of electronic commerce. In the meantime, both nations will adopt a standstill that preserves the current practice of not imposing customs duties on electronic transmissions;". Therefore, the description of the report does not reflect the idea contained in the joint statement.

Contrary to the paragraph 4, which states that US will monitor to ensure the test-bed projects to be fully open to participation by US companies, there is no impediment for foreign companies participation.
