  1. I heartily congratulate the decision to award the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize to Mr. Barack Obama, President of the United States of America.
  2. Since his inauguration, President Obama has placed high importance on diplomacy and international cooperation based on multilateralism and dialogue. In particular, he has laid out the goal of a world without nuclear weapons and has contributed to build up momentum toward global nuclear disarmament. Japan shares his goal and highly appreciates his leadership.
  3. I would like to continue to work closely with President Obama toward the resolution of challenges faced by the international community.
