- I heartily congratulate the decision to award the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize to Mr. Barack Obama, President of the United States of America.
- Since his inauguration, President Obama has placed high importance on diplomacy and international cooperation based on multilateralism and dialogue. In particular, he has laid out the goal of a world without nuclear weapons and has contributed to build up momentum toward global nuclear disarmament. Japan shares his goal and highly appreciates his leadership.
- I would like to continue to work closely with President Obama toward the resolution of challenges faced by the international community.
