The First Meeting of "The Japan Arab Dialogue Forum"

- The First Meeting of "The Japan Arab Dialogue Forum" will be held in Tokyo in September 4 and 5, 2003, sponsored by the Japan Foundation and in cooperation with the Japan Institute of International Affairs.
- The Forum was established as a part of the policy to strengthen the dialogue between Japan and Arab countries. The members of the Forum are influential figures from various fields of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Japan. Japanese members headed by Mr. Ryutaro Hashimoto, Former Prime Minister, Egyptian members headed by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director, Library of Alexandria, and Saudi Arabian members headed by Mr. Khaled Al Gosaibi, Minister of Planning and Economy, will participate in the Forum meeting.
- In the Forum meeting, a variety of issues, such as Middle Eastern situations including Iraq, socio-economic development of Arab countries, will be discussed.
- This Forum is for free exchange of views, and results of the meeting will be reported directly to each leadership. It is expected that the results would be reflected in the policy of each country.
