Conveyance of Message from Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganievich Karimov and Message from Minister for Foreign Affairs Yoriko Kawaguchi to Minister of Foreign Affairs Sodiq Solihovich Safaev Concerning the Bombings in Uzbekistan

March 31, 2004

  1. On Wednesday, March 31 Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi sent a message to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganievich Karimov through the embassy of Japan in Tashkent, denouncing the terrorist bombings that had been perpetrated since the late night of Sunday, March 28 and expressing his condolences to the victims.
  2. In the same spirit, Minister for Foreign Affairs Yoriko Kawaguchi conveyed the following message to Minister of Foreign Affairs Sodiq Solihovich Safaev.

    "We are deeply shocked by the bombings in Uzbekistan that have caused harm to your citizens. Such vicious acts of terrorism are unforgivable and cannot be justified by any reason.

    We extend our deepest condolences to the families of victims and our kindest sympathy to those who were injured".
