Cultural Exchanges
(1) The Solomons' young students studies at universities and colleges in Japan under Japanese government scholarship schemes every year since 1993. Furthermore, young Solomons visited Japan on several occasions through official invitation program such as the Friendship Program for 21st Century (by JICA) and Asia-Pacific Youth Invitation Program (by The Management and Coordination Agency), which aim to promote encounters between young generation of both countries.
(2) In 1996, Yamaha Cooperation of Japan held an electronic organ concert in the Solomon Islands for the first time in its history, which turned out to be a great success.
(3) The Solomon Islands is one of the biggest battle field of WW II. Mourning visits by war veterans and bereaved families continue even though over half century passed after the war.
