Visit to Japan by Ms. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Republic of the Philippines

Ms. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Republic of the Philippines, visited Japan with her spouse Mr. Jose Miguel Arroyo from 12 (Wed) to 15 (Sat) September.
During her stay in Japan, President and Mr. Arroyo made a state call on Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan. The President's schedule included a summit meeting with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and lectures at the 23rd Joint Conference of the Japan-Philippines Economic Cooperation Committee (hosted by the private sector) and at the Global Business Dialogue on Electric Commerce.
The forthcoming visit is President Macapagal-Arroyo's first visit to Japan since she assumed the presidency in January this year. Through the summit meeting and other events, her visit is expected to contribute to making even closer the friendly relations between Japan and the Republic of the Philippines.
