Prime Minister Koizumi Sends Message to Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri on the Occasion of the First Anniversary of the Bali Terrorist Bombing

- On Friday, October 10, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi sent a message to H.E. Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, President of the Republic of Indonesia on the occasion of the first anniversary, coming up on October 12, of the terrorist bombing on the Indonesian island of Bali that claimed lives of more than 200 victims, expressing once again his condolences to the many victims and their families.
- In the message, Prime Minister Koizumi also valued the serious efforts that Indonesia has been making in its fight against terrorism and expressed his hope that Indonesia would continue its positive efforts as the threat of terrorism remains grave in Southeast Asia. Prime Minister Koizumi also stated in the message that Japan also would continue to cooperate with Indonesia and provide it with active support in the field of terrorist countermeasures, taking account of the "Japan-Indonesia Joint Announcement on Fighting Against International Terrorism", which was issued on the occasion of President Megawati's recent visit to Japan.
