Telephone Talks between Japanese and Indian Prime Ministers

On Thursday, November 15, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held telephone talks with H.E. Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India. The overview of the talks is as follows.
- Prime Minister Noda stated that it was unfortunate that the visit of Prime Minister Singh to Japan could not be realized, since he had been looking forward to welcoming Prime Minister Singh and his wife, as Prime Minister Singh, despite his busy schedule, had extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Noda upon his visit to India in 2011. In response, Prime Minister Singh stated that he fully understood Prime Minister Noda’s situation as a fellow leader of a democratic country although he had looked forward to hold the annual Summit Meeting this time.
- The two Prime Ministers confirmed the importance to continuously enhance and deepen the Global and Strategic Partnership between Japan and India. They also agreed to hold the Summit Meeting at the earliest possible date which was convenient for both sides.
- Prime Minister Singh stated that he looked forward to seeing Prime Minister Noda in Cambodia. In response, Prime Minister Noda expressed his expectations to meet Prime Minister Singh again in Cambodia.
