Exemption of Visa Fees for Chinese Students Coming on a school excursion trip to Japan and University Students of ASEAN Countries

- On April 5 (Monday), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided on the exemption of visa fees (approximately 3,000 yen) necessary to acquire a temporary visitor's visa for Chinese students coming on a school excursion trip to Japan and university students of ASEAN countries with the aim of promoting Japan's youth exchanges with China and ASEAN countries.
- Of the ASEAN countries, Brunei and Singapore which Japan has already exempted a temporary visitor's visa requirements and the Philippines which has been exempted from the visa fees are not included in the measure this time. Furthermore, this measure does not apply to visas other than those for temporary visitors.
- Further development in youth exchange between these countries and Japan are expected through the implementation of this measure.
