- On October 28 (Thu.), Mr. Ikuo Yamahana, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from Ambassador Sylvester M. Grigsby, Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration of the Republic of Liberia, who was visiting Japan to attend the High-Level Segment of the Tenth Conference of Parties (COP 10) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, and exchanged views for about 40 minutes.
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister Yamahana thanked Deputy Minister Grigsby for attendance at the COP10, expressed his respect for Liberia's effort under President Sirleaf toward reconstruction since overcoming the civil war, and conveyed Japan's intention to support the consolidation of peace in Liberia.
- In response, Deputy Minister Grigsby thanked Japan for its previous assistance in areas including health, education, and infrastructure development, and expressed expectations for further cooperation from Japan.
