Recent Trends

Since the independence of Eritrea, the bilateral relations have developed steadily through mutual visits of high officials and bilateral cooperations to help Eritrea's nation-building efforts. In July 1999, Japan has provided 420,000 US dollars to WFP for the emergency humanitarian assistance to the displaced people in Eritrea, caused by the border dispute with Ethiopia.
