Meeting on the Economic Information Sharing Mechanism of the Asia-Pacific (EiSMAP) and Kyoto University/OECD Joint International Conference on "Measuring and Fostering the Progress of Societies: Key Issues for the Asia and Pacific regions"

  1. Taking into account the results of the 2nd Kyoto International Seminar in 2007, the Meeting on the Economic Information Sharing Mechanism of the Asia-Pacific (EiSMAP) was held on March 23rd at Katsura Campus of Kyoto University. The meeting was organized availing the opportunity of the International Conference on "Measuring and Fostering the Progress of Societies: Key Issues for the Asia and Pacific Regions," which the OECD and Kyoto University jointly co-hosted on March 23rd and 24th.
  2. The representatives of major international organizations and research institutions [PDF] that have contributed to the EiSMAP project participated in this Meeting. The participants shared a common view on the importance of having an information sharing mechanism for various kinds of data including macro economic statistics for the sustainable development of the Asia-Pacific region. In this meeting, discussions were also made on the future implementing body of EiSMAP, i.e., Kyoto University would inherit the EiSMAP for the future development of its contents, and each organization would continue to cooperate in the EiSMAP as much as possible.
