
Foreign Minister Yukihiko Ikeda to Attend the 8th APEC Ministerial Meeting
- Mr. Yukihiko Ikeda, Foreign Minister, will visit Manila, the Philippines, from November 21 (Thu.) to 25 (Mon.) to attend the 8th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting as the representative of the government.
- The Meeting will be attended by foreign ministers and ministers in charge of economy of the Philippines, the host of the Meeting, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, the People's Republic of China, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand and the U.S. Appropriate representatives from Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei will also attend the Meeting.
- At the Meeting, discussions will be held on the Action Plans with a view to achieving free and open trade and investment, the strengthening of economic and technical cooperation, the strengthening of ties between the APEC members and the private sector, etc.
- During his stay in Manila, Mr. Ikeda will have separate talks with ministers and others attending the Meeting.
