OSAKA-GATEWAY TO ASIA
The APEC Small and Medium Enterprise Ministerial Meeting was held in Osaka in October 1994. This meeting came in response to the Seattle Leaders' Vision Statement, which called for APEC to strengthen its policy dialogue on small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Osaka is also slated as the host city for the seventh ministerial Meeting of APEC, which will be held in Japan in 1995. The Kansai region is particularly proud of the recently opened Kansai International Airport and its role in linking Kansai more effectively with the Asia Pacific.
