The first point concerns the International Criminal Court (ICC). Japan is going to be a signatory nation from October this year. Then, in December, the ICC is scheduled to have a by-election to fill three vacant posts for its justices. And it is now decided that Ambassador Fumiko Saiga is to run for the post as a candidate representing the Japanese Government. Ms. Saiga currently serves as Ambassador in charge of human rights.
