- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold the sixth Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) of the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue on Thursday, December 1.
- The meeting will be chaired by Mr. Toyohisa Kozuki, Special Representative in charge of Central Asia / Deputy Director-General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and vice-foreign-minister level participants from Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) are expected to attend.
- "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue was launched by the Ministerial Meeting with Central Asian countries in August 2004. This Dialogue aims to reinforce relations with Central Asian countries and to promote intra-regional cooperation among the countries for stability and development of this region. This meeting will be held to discuss concrete directions of cooperation towards the Fourth Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue planned to be held in Japan in 2012.
