APEC Japan 2010 Senior Officials’ Meeting 3 (SOM 3)

1. The APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Senior Officials’ Meeting 3 (SOM 3) will be held on September 25 (Sat) and 26 (Sun) in Sendai City (venue: The Westin Sendai). Senior officials from member economies will attend the meeting, which will be chaired by Mr. Shigeru Nakamura, Ambassador for International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Hidehiko Nishiyama, Director-General for Trade Policy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, Deputy Director-General, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Makoto Shiota, Deputy Director-General for International Regional Policy, Trade Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, will also attend as senior officials representing Japan.
   
   
2. This meeting is the third official session to be hosted by Japan as the chair of APEC 2010, and it will wrap up discussions conducted so far toward the Concluding Senior Officials’ Meeting to be held in Yokohama in November.
   
   
3. Ahead of SOM 3, related meetings will be held in Sendai City from September 15 (Wed) to 24 (Fri).
