Visit to the Republic of the Sudan and the Republic of Uganda by Ms. Chinami Nishimura, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs

  1. Ms. Chinami Nishimura, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs will visit the Republic of the Sudan and the Republic of Uganda from July 18 (Sun) to July 24 (Sat).

  2. Sudan, her first destination, is in the final stage of the implementation process of Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) before the referendum on the status of southern Sudan, which will be held in January 2011. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Nishimura will hold talks with senior officials of the Government of Sudan newly established after the general elections in April, encourage the steady implementation of the CPA and explain Japan’s assistance policy.

  3. Following her visit to Sudan, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Nishimura will attend the 17th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council to be held on July 22 (Thu) in Kampala, Uganda. At the Executive Council she will explain Japan’s efforts for Africa and hold talks with African participants.
