The Eighth Japan-China Economic Partnership Consultation

  1. The Eighth Japan-China Economic Partnership Consultation will be held on July 12 (Mon) in China (Beijing).

  2. The Japanese delegation will be headed by Mr. Yoichi Otabe, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, and will consist of representatives of the ministries and agencies concerned. The Chinese delegation will be led by Mr. Chen Jian, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, and will consist of officials from the ministries and agencies concerned.

  3. During the Consultation, the two sides are expected to exchange opinions on bilateral economic relations and cooperation in multilateral frameworks.

  4. The establishment of the Consultation was agreed upon in April 2002 between the then Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, and the then Premier of the State Council, Mr. Zhu Rongji. The purpose of the Consultation is to comprehensively discuss the future direction of bilateral economic relations with particular focus on trade and investment and further strengthen the mutually complementary relationship between the two economies.
