Foreign Minister Okada to attend the APEC Japan 2010 Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT)

Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Sapporo, Hokkaido, from June 4 (Fri) to 6 (Sun) to attend the APEC Japan 2010 Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT). He will be accompanied by Mr. Koichi Takemasa, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
The MRT will be the first ministerial-level meeting to be hosted by Japan as chair of APEC 2010. Towards the APEC Ministerial Meeting and APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting to be held in Yokohama in November, ministers will discuss support for the multilateral trading system, the assessment of achievements of the Bogor Goals for 2010, APEC priority issues and the way forward of APEC. The statement of the Chair will be issued at the end of the meeting.
