Visit to the Republic of South Africa and the United Republic of Tanzania by Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

- Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, will visit the republic of South Africa and the United Republic of Tanzania from April 28 (Wed) to May 5 (Wed).
- While in South Africa, the first country he will visit, Minister Okada will have bilateral talks with the Minister of International Relations and Co-operation of South Africa, and attend the 10th Session of the Japan-South Africa Partnership Forum, a bilateral policy dialogue, to discuss cooperation between the two countries in a wide range of areas.
- Following his visit to South Africa, Minister Okada will attend the Second TICAD Ministerial Follow-up Meeting to be held in Arusha, Tanzania on May 2 (Sun) and 3 (Mon), where he will act as co-chair. At the meeting, progress of implementation will be reviewed and assessed regarding support measures towards Africa decided at The Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV), and recommendations will be provided regarding future courses. The participants will also discuss topics including economic growth in Africa, achieving Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and addressing climate change. In addition, the results of the discussion will be compiled towards important international fora, such as the G8 Summit and the G20 Summit, scheduled to take place in 2010.
