Visit to Japan by Sheikh Ali Gomaa, the Grand Mufti (Highest Official of Islamic Law) of Egypt

- Sheikh Ali Gomaa, the Grand Mufti (Highest Official of Islamic Law) of Egypt, will visit Japan from March 8 (Mon) to 14 (Sun) at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Arab Republic of Egypt.
- During his visit to Japan, Mufti Gomaa is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs, as well as to hold talks with government officials and religious figures. In addition to that, he will hold lecture “Response to Radicalism in Islam” (The title is tentative) at National Press Club on 15:00 – 16:30 March 11 (For further information, please contact 03-3371-5798, the Middle East Research Institute in Japan).
- It is expected that Japan-Egypt relations will become even closer as a result of this visit to Japan by the Grand Mufti. It is also expected that the understanding of Islam among Japanese people will deepen.
