Visit to Japan of His Excellency Dr. Heinz Fischer, Federal President of the Republic of Austria and Mrs. Margit Fischer

His Excellency Dr. Heinz Fischer, Federal President of the Republic of Austria, and Mrs. Margit Fischer, will pay an Official Working Visit to Japan from 30 September to 3 October, 2009.

During their stay in Japan, the Federal President and Mrs. Fischer will make a State Call on Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan, and Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress will host a Court Luncheon in honor of the Federal President and Mrs. Fischer.

The year 2009 marks 140th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Austria. The governments of Japan and Austria have decided to designate the year 2009 as 'Japan-Austria 2009', and to organize commemorative events in both countries. The Government of Japan sincerely welcomes the visit of the Federal President and Mrs. Fischer which will further the friendly relations between the two countries.
