Youth Exchange Program for students from the ASEAN member countries plus Timor-Leste
April 14, 2009
Japanese
- Approximately 220 youths from ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste
will visit Japan from April 14 (Tuesday) to April 23 (Thursday) as part
of the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS)
Programme.
- After attending a lecture on exchanges between Japan and ASEAN at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the youths will attend exchange events and
participate in homestay programs and other activities at local schools in
Hokkaido, Miyagi, Ibaraki, Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, Hyogo, Shimane, Fukuoka
and Okinawa prefectures.
- In contrast to the previous JENESYS Programmes which had focused on inviting youths on an individual country basis, in this program youths from all 10 ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste will participate in activities together during their stay in Japan for the first time. It is expected that mutual understanding among youths from Japan, ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste will be deepened as a result of this program, thereby forming a strong foundation for the future of East Asia.
