Regional Promotion Seminar in Tokyo for Local governments to advertise their policies and charms

- On February 26 (Thu), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the
third Regional Promotion Seminar (Kanto Bloc) for local governments
to advertise the policies and charm of the region to the diplomatic corps
in Tokyo.
- In the seminar, the prefectural governments of Chiba, Gunma, Yamanashi,
Nagano and Shizuoka, and the municipal government of Hamamatsu will give
a presentation on its regional policy and charm. It is expected that
through this open exchange between the local governments and the diplomatic
corps, understanding of Japan’s provincial areas will be promoted and a
network between the local governments and the diplomatic corps created.
- In this fiscal year, the first seminar of this kind was held for the
Kyushu Bloc last November, and the second seminar was held for the Kansai
Bloc on January 20. Seminars are under consideration for other blocs
in subsequent fiscal years.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been providing various kinds of
cooperation to support a variety of international efforts being made by
the local governments. This seminar is being held as part of such
cooperation.
