Visit to the Republic of Indonesia by Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs

- Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, will visit
Jakarta and West Sumatera Province, the Republic of Indonesia, from October
13 (Tue) to 14 (Wed).
- In Jakarta, Minister Okada is scheduled to hold meetings with high-level
government officials including Mr. Hassan Wirajuda, Minister for Foreign
Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. At the meetings, Minister Okada will
share his sympathy for the earthquake that occurred off the coast of Padang,
West Sumatera, on September 30, and convey that Japan intends to provide
the maximum amount of assistance possible for the disaster. He is also scheduled
to confirm that Japan and Indonesia, led by the President Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono who will assume his second Presidency on October 20, will further
develop their close relationship as strategic partners.
- In West Sumatera, Minister Okada will visit Pariaman and Padang, where he will view the damages from the earthquake disaster and directly convey his sympathy to victims of the disaster. He will also observe and encourage the disaster relief efforts being made by the Self-Defense Forces and other organizations.
