Attendance of Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister, at the Bali Democracy Forum Ministerial Meeting

- On December 10 (Wed), Mr. Masahiko Koumura, former Minister for Foreign
Affairs, will attend the Bali Democracy Forum Ministerial Meeting in Bali,
Indonesia, as a Special Envoy of Prime Minister Taro Aso.
- This Forum will be hosted by Indonesia which is promoting the consolidation
of democracy and increasing its significance in the international arena,
intended to promote and consolidate democracy in Asia. The Forum will
be held as the realization of the initiative which Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda,
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, has cherished
for years, and will be attended by Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President
of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Hon. Mr. Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister
of Australia.
- The Government of Japan has decided to dispatch a Special Envoy of the Prime Minister, in consideration of the importance of the Forum aiming at the promotion and consolidation of democracy, and strengthened relations with Indonesia as a partner in dealing with the problems of the international community based on common values.
