The Seventh Japan-China Economic Partnership Consultation

- The Seventh Japan-China Economic Partnership Consultation will be held
on October 27 in China (Shanghai).
- The Japanese delegation will be headed by Mr. Masaharu Kono, Deputy
Minister for Foreign Affairs, and will consist of representatives of the
ministries and agencies concerned. The Chinese delegation will be
led by Mr. Chen Jian, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic
of China, and will consist of officials from the ministries concerned.
- The Consultation is expected to cover such issues as bilateral economic
relations and cooperation in the East Asian and multilateral frameworks.
- The Consultation was agreed upon in April 2002 between the then Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, and the then Premier of the State Council, Mr. Zhu Rongji. The Consultation was established to comprehensively discuss the future direction of bilateral economic relations with particular focus on trade and investment, thereby identifying and addressing any bilateral economic problems at an early stage as well as further strengthening the complementary relationship between the two economies.
