Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Visit Jordan, Israel, the Palestinian territories, Mexico and Brazil

- Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Jordan,
Israel, the Palestinian territories, Mexico and Brazil from August 12(Sun) to
August 24(Fri).
- In Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories, as a part
of Japan’s efforts to proactively engage in promoting the Middle East peace,
Mr. Aso will exchange views with key government officials of Jordan on the Middle
East Peace Process and bilateral relations as well as encourage directly both
Israeli and Palestinian leaders redouble their efforts to advance the Peace
Process. Mr.Aso will also discuss with them how to promote the concept of the
“Corridor for Peace and Prosperity”, which is designed to help achieve future
co-existence and co-prosperity between Israel and Palestine.
- In Mexico, Mr. Aso will have talks with such key government
officials as the president Mr. Caldern, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ms.
Espinosa, to exchange views on promoting joint efforts in the fields of global
issues such as the climate change, strengthening the strategic partnership and
promoting the exchange of people.
- In Brazil, Mr. Aso will have talks with key government officials such as Ambassador Amorim, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to exchange views on cooperation in international arena, joint efforts for the success of Japan-Brazil Exchange Year in 2008, and revitalization of strategic economic partnership. Mr. Aso will also attend the 3rd Foreign Ministers Meeting of the FEALAC (Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation) and discuss wide-ranging issue including ‘Trade and Investment’, the main theme of the meeting.
