Seminar on Investment Promotion in the Southeastern Europe and V4 Countries

1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a Seminar on
Investment Promotion in the Southeastern Europe and V4 Countries on March 26
(Mon) in Tokyo (Mita Kaigisho).
2. Invited to the seminar are the government officials in charge of investment promotion from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia (the so-called V4 countries), eight Southeastern European countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia), UNMIK Kosovo and also those deeply involved with Southeastern Europe’s economy, such as Austria. Attending from Japan will be Ms. Midori MATSUSHIMA, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, high-level officials of the European Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and those concerned from enterprises conducting business in the V4 and the Southeastern European region.
3. In this seminar, Japanese participants will introduce their views on the Southeastern European countries as destinations for foreign investment while those from the V4 countries will explain their policies to attract Japanese investment, and the participants from the Southeastern European countries will explain plans to attract foreign investment in order to accede to the European Union (EU) and plans for after the EU participation. The participants of the seminar including business people of Japanese enterprises will discuss policies of promoting investment from Japan in the V4 and the Southeastern European countries.
*V4 are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
