Mr. Masayoshi Hamada, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Attend the Fourth Africa-Asia Business Forum to be Held in Tanzania and Visit Uganda

  1. Mr. Masayoshi Hamada, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Uganda and Tanzania from Thu, February 8 to Wed, February 14. He will be in Uganda between February 8 and 11 and in Tanzania between February 11 and 13.
  2. In Tanzania, Mr. Hamada will attend the Fourth Africa-Asia Business Forum (AABF IV) to be held as part of the TICAD process, which is at the core of Japan's foreign policy toward Africa, and will also exchange opinions with high ranking officials of the Tanzanian government.
  3. The Forum is intended to offer a venue for business talks between African and Asian companies to promote trade and investment between the two regions and provide information on the business environment in Africa. About 200 companies from Africa and Asia, including Japan, will participate in the Forum, which also will be inaugurated by President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania.
  4. Prior to his visit to Tanzania, Mr. Hamada will visit Uganda to exchange views with high ranking officials of the government on bilateral relations and stability in the Great Lakes Region. Mr. Hamada will also visit the northern region of the country to see the situation of people displaced by conflicts.
