The Japan-U.S. Trade Forum to be held on October 18

  1. The Japan-U.S. Trade Forum will be held on October 18 (Thu) in Tokyo (Sanbancho House).
     
  2. At this Forum, the Japanese delegation will be headed by Mr. Yoichi Otabe, Director General, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and comprised of officials from the ministries and agencies concerned. The U.S. delegation will be headed by Ms. Wendy Cutler, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, and comprised of officials from the ministries and agencies concerned.
     
  3. Both sides will exchange views on trade and trade-related issues raised by Japan and the U.S. at this forum.
     
  4. This will mark the fourth meeting of the Japan-U.S. Trade Forum. The Forum is to function as an ‘early-warning’ mechanism to facilitate expeditious resolution of emerging trade and trade-related issues under “Japan-U.S. Economic Partnership for Growth” established by the then Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and U.S. President George W. Bush in June 2005.
