Ambassador Tatsuo Arima, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan, to Attend the 19th Post-Forum Dialogue Partners’ Meeting of the PIF

- Ambassador Tatsuo Arima, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan, will
visit Tonga from October 17 (Wed) to 20 (Sat) to attend the 19th Post-Forum
Dialogue Partners’ Meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) scheduled on October
18 (Thu).
- Head of the Japanese delegation, Ambassador Arima will attend the Post-Forum
Dialogue Partners’ Meeting of the PIF to discuss common issues between Japan
and Pacific island countries in the political, economic and social fields. The
Ambassador will also engage in bilateral talks with representatives of the Pacific
island nations and Post-Forum Dialogue Partners’ countries to discuss such
matters as the strengthening of partnership between Japan and the Pacific islands
region.
- The Post-Forum Dialogue Partners’ Meeting will include discussions on
climate change, energy, fisheries, tourism and health with the PIF members.
- Ambassador Arima’s attendance at the Post-Forum Dialogue Partners’ Meeting is expected to further promote friendly and cooperative relations between Japan and the Pacific island nations.
