Visit to Japan by His Excellency Dr. Leonel Fernandez, President of the Dominican Republic

  1. His Excellency Dr. Leonel Fernandez, President of the Dominican Republic, will visit Japan at the invitation of the Government of Japan from July 1 (Sat) to 4 (Tue).
  2. During his stay in Japan, President Fernandez will make a State Call on Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress, and will meet with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Mr. Yohei Kono, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The President will also exchange views with members of the Japan-Dominican Republic Parliamentary Friendship League, representatives of economic circles, and others. The President will attend and give a speech at the Dominican Republic Investment Seminar.
  3. Japan and the Dominican Republic have traditionally good relations and Japan has been assisting the economic and social development of the Dominican Republic as a major donor country. President Fernandez' visit is expected to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
