The 12th Intergovernmental Consultation on Japan-China Cultural Exchange

  1. The 12th Intergovernmental Consultation on Japan-China Cultural Exchange will take place on May 23 (Tue) in Tokyo (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
  2. The Consultation will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Masaki Okada, Director-General, Public Diplomacy Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; Agency for Cultural Affairs; and the Japan Foundation; and on the Chinese side by Mr. Ding Wei, Assistant Minister of Culture, and other relevant officials of the Ministry of Culture; Academy of Social Sciences; Academy of Sciences; and Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Japan.
  3. The Consultation is held based on the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Agreement for the promotion of cultural exchange between the two countries that came into effect in 1979. Japan and China will inform their cultural exchange policies respectively, and evaluate current and future outlook of the cultural exchange between the two countries, aiming at further promoting cultural exchange in the future. They will also discuss measures to deepen mutual understanding and how to contribute to bilateral relations.
