Visit to Japan by Mr. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka

- Mr. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, will visit Japan from May 17 (Wed) to 21 (Sun).
- During his stay, Foreign Minister Samaraweera will have talks with Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yasushi Akashi, Representative of the Government of Japan on Peace Building, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Sri Lanka, and other government officials to exchange views centered on the current situation in Sri Lanka, including the Peace Process and bilateral relations between Japan and Sri Lanka.
- The upcoming visit of Foreign Minister Samaraweera will be the first visit to Japan by a cabinet member of the new Rajapakse government, which was inaugurated in November last year, and the visit is expected to expand and deepen bilateral relations between Japan and Sri Lanka.
