Visit to Japan by Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Foreign Minister of Egypt

  1. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Foreign Minister of Egypt, will visit Japan from May 15 (Mon) to16 (Tue) as Guest of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
  2. The visit of Mr. Aboul Gheit is regarded as one of the follow-ups to the "Japan-Egypt Partnership Program," which was agreed between the two countries when President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak visited Japan in 1999, and is aimed at further advancing cooperative relations between Japan and Egypt at ministerial level through wide-ranging discussions on bilateral, regional, and international issues in his talks particularly with Foreign Minister Taro Aso.
  3. Mr. Aboul Gheit had been as a professional diplomat and served as ambassador to the United Nations. He has played an active role in the forefront of Egyptian diplomacy for many years. He has been Foreign Minister of Egypt since 2004.
