The 13th Global Youth Exchange Program Public Symposium (December 8)

  1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a public symposium on December 8 (Fri) at Keio Plaza Hotel, Tokyo, as part of the 13th Global Youth Exchange Program. The general theme of the symposium is "Environment and Economic Development-Searching key ideas to create harmony in the 21st Century-".
  2. In this Symposium, Mr. Jin Sato, Associate Professor of the International Studies Course, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo, will deliver a keynote lecture, followed by a panel discussion by representatives from the young participants. The representatives will then present their proposals as a result of the discussions of the Program.
  3. This year's Global Youth Exchange Program has invited to Japan 31 young people from Asia-Pacific, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, African countries and one international organization (UNEP) from November 26 (Sun) to December 10 (Sun). There are also three Japanese participants in the Program. The Program in Aichi Prefecture includes lectures related to the general theme, exchanges with students of Nagoya University, three-day intensive discussions and exchange programs including homestay. The participants were given lectures on Japanese culture and had a chance to experience it in Kyoto.
