The Second Meeting of "Japan-Arab Dialogue Forum" and Japan-Egypt Joint Medical Technical Cooperation for Iraq

  1. The Second Meeting of the "Japan- Arab Dialogue Forum" hosted by Egypt will be held on March 3 (Wed) and 4 (Thu) in Alexandria, Egypt.

  2. The Forum was established as part of Japan's policy initiatives to strengthen dialogue between Japan and Arab countries. The Meeting will be attended on the Japanese side by representatives headed by Mr. Ryutaro Hashimoto, former Prime Minister; on the Egyptian side by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, as the chairman, and other participants; and on the Saudi Arabian side by the head of the delegation, Prince Saud Al-Faisal, and others.

  3. At the meeting, there will be a wide-ranging exchange of views on how to strengthen relationships between Japan and the Middle East including such topics as the Iraqi issue, the socio-economic development of the Middle East and a dialogue between cultures based on the current situation in the Middle East.

  4. As part of their medical cooperation for Iraq, Japan and Egypt will jointly implement Japan-Egypt Joint Medical Technical Cooperation for about 100 Iraqi medical service workers for two weeks from March 6 (Sat). The opening ceremony will be held on March 5 (Fri) in Cairo, which will be attended by Mr. Ryutaro Hashimoto, former Prime Minister of Japan.
