Visit to Japan by Mr. Willem Kok, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Mr. Jozias Johannes Van Aartsen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

  1. Mr. Willem Kok, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will pay a visit to Japan from February 20 (Sun) to 22 (Tue), and Mr. Jozias Johannes Van Aartsen, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, from February 21 (Mon) to 23 (Wed).

  2. During his stay in Japan, the Prime Minister will be received in audience by His Majesty The Emperor of Japan.
    The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister will also hold meetings with Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi and other officials to exchange views on bilateral relations, the international situation, and other issues.
    As their visits take place on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of relations between Japan and the Netherlands, they will have talks with people involved with the 400th anniversary commemorative events in addition to exchanges of views with Japanese government officials such as the Prime Ministers' meeting and the foreign ministers' meeting.
    Prime Minister Kok's visit to Japan will be his fifth, and that of the Minister for Foreign Affairs will be his first.
