The Twelfth meeting of the Japan-Egypt Joint Committee

  1. The twelfth meeting of the Japan-Egypt Joint Committee will be held on December 9 and 10, 1999 (Thursday and Friday) in Tokyo.

  2. The Egyptian side will be headed by Ambassador Mr. Mohamed El-Orabi, director of the Foreign Minister's Cabinet (Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister), and on the Japanese side by Mr. Yukio Takeuchi, Deputy Vice-Minister for Foreign Policy, and Mr. Kishichiro Amae, Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau. On December 10th, the Egyptian delegation will meet with Mr. Ryozo Kato, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.

  3. At the forthcoming meeting, there will be an exchange of views on bilateral relations, and aspects of the regional and international situation as well as global issues which are of common concern to the two countries.

  4. Since the first meeting of this Joint Committee was held in Cairo in June 1983, it has been meeting alternately in Tokyo and Cairo, in a spirit of friendship and understanding, with a view to expanding and diversifying mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
