Transition of Power to the Constitutional Assembly in Libya

The Government of Japan welcomed the transition of power in Libya from the National Transitional Council to the democratically elected Constitutional Assembly on Wednesday, August 8, 2012.
The Government of Japan expects that democratization processes, such as the appointment of Prime Minister and the creation of a Constitution, will proceed smoothly, and that full-fledged reconstruction and development of the country will start soon in Libya.
The Government of Japan intends to continue its support for the construction of new Libya by utilizing Japan’s knowledge and experience.
