Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the Suicide Attack in Somalia

A suicide attack occurred in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, on April 4 and caused heavy casualties. Japan strongly condemns this terrorist act.
It is extremely deplorable that the terrorist attack occurred whilst peace efforts and political reform continue in Somalia within the framework of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG), which is supported by the international community.
Japan will continue to offer its cooperation and provide assistance in order to promote peace process in Somalia in collaboration with the international community.
