- On Thursday, March 8, Dialogue with Central Asian and Caucasian Countries: Seminar concerning Energy Conservation was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Experts from government agencies and institutions related to energy from Japan as well as Central Asian and Caucasian countries participated in the seminar.
- At the seminar, participants from Japan as well as Central Asian and Caucasian countries explained energy conservation efforts implemented by each country and challenges related to them. Subsequently, participants actively exchanged opinions on the possibility of cooperation in energy conservation in the future.

[Dialogue with Central Asian and Caucasian Countries: Seminar concerning Energy Conservation]
This seminar aimed at advancing cooperation between Japan and the Central Asian and Caucasian countries as well as enhancing regional cooperation between these countries in the field of energy saving through an exchange of opinions concerning efforts for energy conservation taken by Japan and these countries.
Japan and Central Asian countries are proceeding forward with cooperation in five areas — (1) environment, energy conservation and renewable energy, (2) the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and correction of disparities, (3) cooperation for stability in Afghanistan, (4) cooperation for disaster prevention, and (5) trade investment — toward the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue Fourth Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in Tokyo in the fall of 2012. Among the above five, this seminar was held as cooperative efforts in the field of (1) environment, energy saving and renewable energy.

[The "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue]
The "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue was launched as a framework for the promotion of dialogue and cooperation with the Central Asian region as a whole when then–Minister for Foreign Affairs Yoriko Kawaguchi visited Central Asian countries in August 2004. The First Foreign Ministers' Meeting was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Third Foreign Ministers Meeting was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in August 2010.
