On Thursday, November 15, Mr. Kazuya Shimba, Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Mr. Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, who was on a working visit to Japan, from 4:00 pm for approximately 30 minutes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An overview of the meeting is as follows:

Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister Shimba expressed his gratitude for the support Japan received from Ukraine in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. In reply, Minister Poroshenko remarked that cooperation in disaster response for accidents at nuclear power stations between Japan and Ukraine has made progress and it is important to exchange the experiences of both countries in this field.
Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister Shimba congratulated Ukraine on the successful organization of the European Football Championship EURO 2012 in June this year. Minister Poroshenko offered his thanks and referred to the new terminal building of Boryspil Airport, which was built with Japanese Loan Aid and opened prior to the EURO 2012, and was equipped with modern facilities.
Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister Shimba mentioned the potential of the Ukrainian economy and said that both sides should continue efforts to enhance bilateral economic relations. Minister Poroshenko remarked that the discussions with Japanese economic organizations during his present visit to Japan had been meaningful.
Both sides have reached a consensus to further promote bilateral relations, taking advantage of the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ukraine.
