- On Saturday, September 17, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda received a courtesy call at the Prime Minister's Office from Prof. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), who is on a visit to Japan.
- Prime Minister Noda explained the current status of the reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and the future approach, in response to which Executive Chairman Schwab expressed his appreciation of Japan’s efforts made so far as well as his expectations for the recovery of the Japanese economy under Prime Minister Noda’s leadership. The leaders also agreed that Japan and the WEF will cooperate in tackling global agendas facing the international community such as global responses to natural disasters.

The WEF is a non-profit public interest organization established in 1971 by an economist, Prof. Klaus Schwab. It hosts various major symposia. Headquartered in Geneva, it boasts a membership of more than 1,000 companies and organizations as corporate members. It holds its annual meeting every January in Davos, Switzerland.
