Japanese
- On Friday September 9, the Government of Japan decided to extend emergency relief goods worth 35 million yen (around 450,000 US dollars) (tents, water purifiers, etc.) to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), following the disastrous floods caused by the unprecedented heavy rain.
- Pakistan has been hit by heavy rain since the end of August, which caused floods in the entire area of Sindh Province in Southern Pakistan, forcing many people to evacuate by destroying houses and other facilities, and submerging farmland. According to the Government's statement on September 8,169 people were reported dead and the total number of those affected could be approximately 4.9 million (including approximately 140,000 evacuees).
- Upon request by the Government of Pakistan and in light of friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan, the Government of Japan has made the decision to extend emergency assistance for humanitarian aid for those affected.
