The Government of Japan evaluates recent measures taken by the Government of Myanmar including the meeting between H.E. Mr. Thein Sein, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on Friday, August 19, as a positive step which contributes to Myanmar's democratization and its national reconciliation.
The Government of Japan expects that the Government of Myanmar will continue to take such measures in the future so that the process of democratization and national reconciliation will be solid and make substantial progress.
